Manille amidst the greenery
Schilde, Belgium
At home, Manille
Hidden in the greenery but close to Antwerp, you can find the home of interior photographer Mr. Frank. A modernist pearl designed by architect Eddy François, surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The lounge of the bungalow faces the front and is directly linked via large French windows with the front garden, which boasts a 30-year-old Gargantua. But there is more…
Manille finds a place by the natural swimming pool behind the house, where high trees offer cooling and a continuous play of light and shadow. On the compact terrace Manille still allows easy access to each of the four seats. This makes this picnic table suitable for any small urban garden, but also for attractive little corners in a more spacious garden, as in this case.
The integrated backrests give that hint of extra comfort that makes it worth staying around for a little while after lunch. The upper surface of the Hellwood backrest also gives you somewhere to rest an arm.
The soft pistachio green of the Manille table bridges nature and architecture. For the same reason you often see this shade of green on ‘real’ bridges and steel structures, with the aim of fitting into the landscape. This color subtly brings a stroke of freshness to the terrace and its surroundings. The overall effect remains calm and sober.
