Both Extremis designs Acacia and Bistroo received a German Design Award 2020, the international premium prize of the German Design Council. The jury’s goal is to discover and award ground-breaking product and communication designs. Acacia and Bistroo were two of the best top-quality submissions.

Earlier this year, Bistroo also received the Red Dot Award for Product Design. As with all Extremis designs, both Acacia and Bistroo were created by observing people’s interaction and with the aim of improving those experiences.

Acacia parasol

Acacia is a reinvention of the parasol and took the eponymous African tree as inspiration. With its small surface and atypical form, Acacia creates ample and effective shade during the day. Once the canopy is removed, the frame serves as a sculpture by resembling the Acacia tree branches.

Bistroo table

Bistroo, on the other hand, is praised by the jury for its inventiveness as an “effective multi-use seating solution.” It is designed for intense interactions, both indoor and outdoor. Bistroo enables you to sit side by side, observing and commenting as the world goes by. Whether toned-down or in a joyful colour, the stable and weatherproof two-person seat is suitable for all balconies, terraces, rooftops, bars, restaurants, and hotels.
